DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

Haiiiiiiiiiiii semua??? Are you fine??? Are you ready to study English???

Pernah tidak kalian dengar tentang descriptive text? Dalam Bahasa Indonesia disebut “deskriptif” maksudnya kata sifat yang mempunyai arti ‘gambaran’. Sedangkan text atau ‘teks’ memiliki arti tulisan. So, Descriptive Text is a text which describe something, such as person, animal, thing, or place, in a detailed. Artinya, teks deskriptif (Descriptive Text) merupakan sebuah teks yang menggambarkan sesuatu, seperti orang, hewan, benda, atau tempat, secara mendetail atau secara lengkap. Kata mendeskripsikan disini berarti menyebutkan sifat  atau karakteristik dari sesuatu yang akan kita deskripsikan tersebut.

ü  Generic Structure of Descriptive Text

Adapun generic structure dari Descriptive Text:

1.       Identification

Identification : Identifying phenomenon (person, place, or thing) that will be described. (berisi tentang identifikasi hal / seseorang yang akan dideskripsikan).

2.       Description

Description : Describing parts, qualities, characteristics, etc (berisi tentang penjelasan / penggambaran tentang hal / seseorang dengan menyebutkan beberapa sifatnya).

ü  Language Feature of Descriptive Text

Beberapa ciri kebahasaan atau Language Feature dari descriptive text yaitu sebagai berikut:

1. Specific participant : Memiliki obyek tertentu, tidak bersifat umum dan unik (hanya ada satu)
misalnya : bandengan beach, my house, borobudur temple, my laptop

2.  Menggunakan Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense:

Pattern:  Verbal

(+) S + Verb 1_(ies/es/s)  + Object/ adverb

     She wants to be a professional dancer.

(-) S + do/does +not+ V1+ Object/ adverb

     Laura doesn’t have a lot of free time.

(?) Do/does + S + V1+ Object/adverb ?

     Do you know Laura

                             Pattern: Nominal

                             (+) S + to be + Complement

                                   She is a professional dancer  

                             (-) S + to be + not + complement

                                  She is not happy

                             (?) to be + S + Complement ?

                                   Is her hair brown?

3.        Menggunakan kata sifat (Adjective)

Penggunaan adjective (kata sifat) untuk memperjelas noun (kata benda)
misalnya : a beautiful beach, a beautiful girl, the famous place in Tasikmalaya dll

4.       Menggunakan Relational process (are, am, is, have, has )

5.       Menggunakan kata penghubung (Linking Verb)

Kata penghubung merupakan kata yang menghubungkan subjek dengan kata penjelasan. Kata penghubung dapat berupa to be (is, am, are) atau yang lain, seperti seem, look, appear, sound, dan lain – lain.

6.       Menggunakan Personal pronoun ( I, you, we, they, she, he, it,)

7.       Noun Phrase

Di bawah ini merupakan contoh descriptive text:

My Motorcycle

I have a favorite motorcycle. My father bought it for me when I was in Senior High School. This is the only motorcycle that I have right now, but even if one day I buy another one, this one will always be my favorite, because there are so many thing happened with me and this motorcycle. For me, it is irreplaceable.

The type of my favorite motorcycle is underbones. If you are familiar with various types of motorcycles, then I believe you can imagine what my motorcycle looks like. The dominant color of my motorcycle is red. It has spoke wheels type of rim and standard tire. The original rearview mirror was broken and I replace it with a smaller one. Last year I replace the original shock absorber with the new one. The color of the new shock absorber is black. A very distinctive part of my motorcycle is the seat. It is because I modified it a little bit from the original shape. The seat of my motorcycle is so long so it can accommodate two person. I decided to add some foam rubber on it, start from the middle part of the seat up to the back part. It makes the back part of the seat to be higher than the front part and cause a border which separated the driver's seat and the passenger's seat.

                                                          My Camera

                My favorite thing is my camera. It is a brand new digital camera. I really love my camera. My father gave this camera on my 16^th birthday
               My digital camera is black. It is a newest product of a famous camera company. It is one of the larger types of camera which is named DSLRs (Digital Single Lens Reflex) because we can see the image directly through the lens that will be used to take the image. When the shutter is pressed, a mirror flips up to expose the sensor to light. It also has the largest sensors, which in general will allow me to get the best quality pictures, especially in low-light conditions.
               I love my digital camera. I usually bring it in every special moment in my life, such as birthday, wedding, and many other occasions. I hope that this camera will always accompany me and there will be many more special events captured by this camera

LAPTOP

Its compact form factor, powerful capabilities, and seamless connectivity have made itan indispensable companion in our fast-paced and interconnected world. Whether for work,learning, or leisure, the laptop continues to play a pivotal role in shaping how we interact withtechnology and each other.
